Blush

Wearing blush is just as important as wearing lipstick to complete your whole look.  However, choosing the right blush isn’t always that easy.

Nowadays blush comes in many different formulas and each has it’s benefits.

  1. Powder Blush is great for all types of skin, especially oily skin.  It’s easy to apply and is great for humid conditions as it doesn’t melt on the skin.  The best way to apply powder blush is with a big dense blush brush (eg MAC’s 129 Blush Brush).  Gently dab the brush onto the blush palette, tap of the excess podwer and then lightly apply the blush to the cheeks in a swirling motion blending up and towards the hairline.  Some good powder blushes to try: MAC’s Style Warrior Beauty Powder Blush in On a Mission, Benefit’s CORALista, Bourjois Little Blush Pot in Lilas D’or.
  2. Cream Blush is best for mature or dry skin types and gives the skin a glowy effect.  It can be applied with a brush or fingers.  The best way to apply cream blush is to dot the blush onto the cheeks and gently blend into the skin.  Some good cream blushes to try: Clinique’s Blushwear Cream Stick in Peachy Blush, Revlon Cream Blush in Rosy Glow, MAC’s Blushcreme in Posey.
  3. Mousse Blush is great for oily skin and has a lightweight texture.  It can be applied with fingers gently blending into the skin leaving a powder finish.  For a good mousse blush try: Maybelline’s Dream Mousse in Dolly Pink.
  4. Tint/Gel Blush are long lasting and look very natural.  The best way to apply tint/gel blush is to apply a small dot to your fingers and blend in quickly as they are fast drying and can leave uneven streaky stains.  Some good tint/gel blushes to try: Benefit’s Benetint, MAC’s Just a Pinch.
