Maybelline Cosmetics

The Maybelline Company was born in 1913 when a New York chemist TL Williams invented a product named Lash-Brow-Ine.  This was today’s version of mascara.  He was inspired by his sister who used a mixture of coal dust and vaseline and applied it to her lashes to make them look thicker.

That’s where the brand name Maybelline was also born as his sister’s name was Mabel and the product was made from vaseline, hence the name Maybelline.

In 1991 the Maybelline Company adopted the slogan “Maybe She’s Born With It.  Maybe It’s Maybelline”.  In 1996 the company was taken over by L’Oreal.

The company has a wide range of products with 13 different mascara’s alone, the latest being the Lash Stiletto Mascara.
